Spam and Email Policies

Our incoming (SMTP) and outgoing (POP3) mail servers are both mail.alluretech.net when setting up your Eudora or Outlook program.  You can also access your email from anywhere using the convenient web interface.  We do not recommend that you use the web interface exclusively or leave messages permanently on our server.  We delete messages older than 180 days in all mailboxes.  This does not impact you if using Outlook, Eudora or other program which stores your messages on your hard drive.  We filter messages for both viruses and Spam or Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE).   While we do our best to block both viruses and Spam, occasionally some inevitably will get through.  We recommend using a good anti-virus program such as AVG.

Most of you have @alluretech.net addresses.  Actually, @wyobeam.com and @alluretech.net are interchangeable; you can receive mail addressed either way.  When you send a message using the web interface, it will go out showing the @wyobeam.com return address which might confuse the recipient.  Don't fret, you'll get any replies addressed to either address.

Mail identified as Spam is automatically redirected into a separate mailbox called Spam - Messages in that box are automatically deleted after 5 days on a daily basis.  You can only access the Spam box via the web interface.  If you find any legitimate mail directed into the Spam mailbox, read the instructions below explaining how to redirect to your main mailbox.

to spam can always be routed to your main mailbox.

Example:  a message from “Uncle Tom” is going to spam

You can re-direct this to the MAIN mailbox by following these steps:

1.            Click the scroll arrow in the FIELD box  and choose (click on) From

2.            Click on  “contains”

3.            Now move the pointer to PHRASE (click in the PHRASE box)

4.            Enter “Uncle Tom” (without the quotes)

5.            Click on the Add Condition button

6.            Scroll drown to the RULE box (the condition you just added will be in this box)

7.            Highlight (click on the new rule which you have just created)

8.            Scroll down to the DESTINATION box and enter “MAIN” (without the quotes)

9.            Click Finish. Screen goes back to beginning and you should see your new rule

That’s all there is to it.  You can edit the rule by clicking on the “pen” symbol

or you can delete the rule by clicking on the “trash can” symbol.

There’s almost unlimited possibilities using these processing rules to insure

that you get the email you want and not have to see the email you do not want.
